Help others in your local area
Being a volunteer is a very rewarding experience and brings you into contact with both other volunteers in your area and of course, those requiring our services. If you are new to the area or just want to make new friends, it's a great way to get to know more people in the area.
It is very easy to become a volunteer. Please contact us on the scheme number for more details.
There is an initial interest form which outlines your details, when you'd be available and the sort of tasks you'd be willing to do. You will also need to complete a CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) form and bring proof of ID and your address to the Chairperson along with your completed form. Once we get the confirmation back following the necessary checks, you will receive your ID badge and be ready to start volunteering.
The sort of tasks we have range from:
- Being the designated phoneholder (usually on a 2 week rota)
- Giving people lifts to appointments or shopping
- Collecting prescriptions
- Befriending/chatting with someone
- Filling in forms/writing letters
- Light DIY
- Dog walking
- Making meals
As a Committee, we usually meet up 3 or 4 times a year to discuss any issues or just have a social with our volunteers. This is usually held at the Compasses in Greenfield.
We would warmly welcome you as a new volunteer, so please do get in touch!
